Francesco Zedde (b. 1993, Italy) is a multimedia artist based in the Netherlands. His curiosity is often driven by societal and metalinguistic questions, and much of his work centers on the idea of the musical event as a social practice, employing DIY methods of organization and creation. This commitment began with playing and organizing concerts and later expanded into diverse creative fields, including hacking, circuit bending, augmented instruments, and interactive installations. In his practice, the use of obsolete and discarded materials holds both rhetorical significance and political weight, serving as a stance of resistance against corporate production and consumerism.

Francesco holds a professional qualification in film music composition, a bachelor’s degree in electronic music, a master’s degree in sound design, and a master’s degree in music and technologies.

He works primarily as a performing artist and teacher, creates noise music under the stage name Tonto, and produces electronic music as Tacet Tacet Tacet.

Francesco is also one of the founders and organizers of the Discomfort Dispatch concert series, an initiative dedicated to showcasing electronic and free improvised music.

Since 2011, he has actively participated in over 20 projects and bands, released 10 solo albums, contributed to more than 30 records, and performed around 700 concerts across 21 countries. His music has been released by over 20 labels, including Midira, Artetetra, and Attenuation Circuit.

In addition to an extensive live performance portfolio, Fra undertakes diverse works such as composition of soundtracks, facilitation of workshops, creation of machines and instruments, development of software.
